The site design of Celebration Park takes cues from traditional outdoor markets where customers walk down crowded aisles perusing the vendors’ offerings. Customers are drawn through the market aisle by the striking form of the shade structure and bar beyond. Those living close by can walk and bike to the park, and a dozen slips are provided for boaters. Service functions such as bathrooms and storage enclosures are placed near the entrance to the park as a formal gate, informing patrons that they are entering an exciting place for the community to gather. In Florida where new developments, including restaurants, attempt to transport visitors to another place, we have embraced our locale. Using materials such as galvanized steel, locally sourced masonry, cypress, and crushed shell, our design pays homage to the surrounding working waterfront aesthetic and provides a resilient structure. Visit Celebration Park any weekend of the year, and one will oftentimes find it teeming with locals and visitors from all walks of life.
